JASMIINA dress & CALENDULA shirt by Minna Konttijärvi are based on the same pattern. The CALENDULA shirt has 3⁄4 sleeves and the hem is cropped at the waist and curving longer in the back. The JASMIINA design is a knee-length dress with full-length sleeves and the same curvy hemline as the shirt. You can alter the design by making the curvy CALENDULA and JASMIINA hemlines straight by eliminating the extra length from the back and straightening the front. Experimenting with different materials will give the sleeves a slightly different look.
Minna Konttijärvi is a Finnish patternmaker currently living in Milan, Italy. She has always been drawn to art and various crafts, but it wasn’t until about ten years ago that she first discovered patternmaking, the perfect combination of sewing and drawing. She immediately felt like she had found her thing! Nowadays, she’s a freelance patternmaker and teaches others this amazing skill through tutorials on her blog, theshapesoffabric.com, and posts on Instagram. Minna is especially fond of sculptural shapes and fabric manipulation techniques that create interesting 3D surface patterns. Sleeves are one of her favourite subjects. When she was invited to design a pattern for TAUKO Magazine, it was obvious that the garment in question should have sculptural statement sleeves. That’s how the CALENDULA blouse and the JASMIINA dress came to be. The idea was to leave the rest of the garment relatively simple so that the sleeves could remain the absolute protagonist of the piece.

Fit and size:
Choose your size based on your bust circumference. Add a recommended positive ease of 2–4.7"/5–12 cm. Pick the size that is the best match for your bust. Saranya Meromaa is wearing JASMIINA in size 3. She is 63"/161 cm tall.Fabric recommendations:
These patterns are designed for non-stretch woven materials. When choosing a fabric, keep in mind that the gathering on the sleeve will create bulk. Therefore, it’s better to use lightweight or medium weight woven materials. Also, ensure that the fabric is not see-through, as there is no lining. Some good options are lightweight wool, linen, lightweight denim, and cotton such as chambray, lawn, and poplin. The sample dress is made from 100% linen, 185 g/m², by Merchant & Mills from Materials, and the shirt linen is from the designer’s stash. -
